Laureano Delfante, an 18-year-old young man, is in critical condition after being stung by a scorpion while he was sleeping at his home in Ramallo, Argentina.
Since last Monday, Delfante remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the San Felipe Hospital, where He receives mechanical ventilation and medications to treat the inflammation and myocarditis he developed due to the poison.
The incident occurred in the victim’s home, and after informing his family that he felt bad, he was immediately transferred to the José María Gomendio Hospital. There, doctors discovered that he had been stung twice by a scorpion. Due to the severity of his condition, Delfante was referred to San Felipe Hospital to receive specialized treatment.

According to the medical report, Delfante’s condition is reserved and his prognosis is uncertain. Despite some slight intermittent improvements, his situation remains extremely delicate. Doctors are amazed by the severity of the clinical picture, considering the patient’s youth. “If the patient were a baby, the condition could be expected to have this severity, but not in an 18-year-old boy”commented a family member.

The news has generated great concern among Ramallo residents. Delfante’s family and friends are baffled as to how the scorpion managed to come into contact with him, and are in constant prayer for his recovery.
