Next Friday, within the framework of National Flag Day, the province will launch a new tourism proposal whose main objective is to spread local culture, production, art and flavors. This is the first edition of “Saint John the Fatherland”a recreational event with a patriotic theme that offers activities for the whole family, both locals and visitors. It will take place on the Platform of the San Martín Station and will be repeated every long weekend in urban and open places to promote internal tourism.
The Ministry of Tourism said that “San Juan Patrio” will be a day full of activities to enjoy with the family, with a wide range of proposals that will highlight the best of the province at a productive, cultural and artistic level. And although the theme is patriotic, this proposal is designed to show the idiosyncrasy of the people of San Juan. Attendees will be able to delight in an exquisite tasting and sale of regional products, including wine, olive trees, honey, nuts, pistachios, preserves, etc. Around 20 producers from various departments will participate.
In addition, there will be a gastronomic sector with food trucks that will offer dishes with San Juan and traditional flavors such as asado, tip of the back, locro, cakes and even sopaipillas.
On the other hand, “San Juan Patrio” will also include a sector dedicated to culture. Throughout the day there will be a crafts fair, with the participation of about 30 exhibitors who will offer a variety of products.
The event will also feature artistic interventions that will liven up the day, presenting folk dances and songs that reflect the roots and traditions of San Juan. In this first edition of the festival, “Young Researchers of San Juan” (at 3:00 p.m.), “Los Arrieros del Folklore” (at 3:30 p.m.), “Los 750” (at 4:00 p.m.), the Capital Ballet will take the stage. (at 4:40 p.m.) and “Inti Huama” (at 5:00 p.m.) who will be in charge of closing the shows.
In addition, the province’s Tourism Promotion team will be present at the “San Juan Patrio” with an eye-catching stand that will offer tourists a comprehensive experience. This space will not only provide tasting of wines and regional products, but also interactive games and personalized advice. The team of promoters will provide details and recommendations on all the activities that can be enjoyed in San Juan during the long weekend, ensuring that both visitors and residents can make the most of the recreational and cultural opportunities that the province has to offer.
The Ministry of Tourism also announced that the objective is for the “San Juan Patrio” festival to be held during all long weekends, even if they are not for the commemoration of a national date.
The first edition of “San Juan Patrio” will take place next Friday the 21st, on the San Martín Station Platform, in front of the Plaza del Bicentenario, from 12 to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

This year, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the province also launched “Catando San Juan”, a proposal that fuses local gastronomy with the exhibition of regional enterprises, tasting of wines and olive oils, as well as shows by renowned local artists who delighted the people of San Juan and the tourists who came to the province. This tourist initiative toured different departments and was part of the “Malbec Week” (photo).
> Less than 50% hotel reservation
The next long weekend is approaching, from June 20 to 23, due to the extended Flag Day holiday, and the general reservation percentage still does not reach 50% in the province. According to data provided by the Ministry of Tourism, so far there is a 48% reservation. And Calingasta tops the ranking with 75% of hotel capacity reserved. Second place is for Valle Fértil with 50%, and third place is for Gran San Juan with 47%. Meanwhile, Iglesia is in fourth place with 34%, while Jáchal occupies the last place with a 26% reserve.
