Thanks to the triumph of four outstanding students, the Christophoro Colombo Gymnasium Schoollocated at 80B #42D–89 Street, received the prize in the robotics contest The Bee Boo Challenge of the children’s category and youth category that took place in Cancun, Mexico.

Vanessa Meza, rector of this Barranquilla institution, said that they were summoned by the Biffi School and La Salle for a robotics challenge in different categories, which left the students in first place Juan Diego Mora and Diego Zuluaga.

For their part, in second place were Emmanuel Peralta and Gabriel Arenas, who along with their teammates received advice from robotics teacher of the institution, Édgar Pulgarín, who was also in charge of accompanying them to Cancún.

“In the Colombian League we first participate among the different cities. It was people from different cities of Colombiaof Huila, from Medellín, from Bogotá and we won. And then we participate at the international level against Mexican League and we also won, occupying first and second place,” said Vanessa Meza, rector of the institution.

For his part, Ronald Mora, Juan Diego’s father, did not hide his happiness when talking about how proud he is of this award achieved by his 12-year-old son.

“We as parents We are very proud of being a very intelligent child because we are happy that he is interested or encouraged by these kinds of things. In society right now there are so many bad things that can harm innocence or send a child astray that seeing how good Juan Diego is fills us with gratitude,” Mora said.

He also said that his son has always been interested in robotics and that he is an exemplary student. “We have never had to stand behind him to do his tasks. He is always very compliant and responsible.”

“When they had the opportunity to participate in the contest, they were impressed because it is one thing to be in a international competition. Surely, together with his partner, they had the same pressure to say that they were already in an international competition, since there must be other competitors who possibly had greater capabilities than them, but they were the best,” he highlighted.

Mora pointed out that his son has always occupied first place academically because in all his class periods he demonstrates discipline and commitment with each task performed so his parents support him 100% in each of his decisions.

“He is very competitive because he arrives himself, the first thing he does is do his homework, then he starts playing, because he likes soccer a lot, he has his Xbox and with that he also entertains himself, but the first thing for him is to do his homework. Seeing that he is interested in these things, we make the effort, as much as we can, to support him in the good decisions that he makes and in these types of activities that, apart from filling one with pride, since they direct or guide him. They can open up the range of possibilities as much as possible,” he asserted.

It is necessary to point out that in addition to being a good student, Juan Diego He also likes to play sports. “He puts pressure on himself to improve, he studies, he is very dedicated and as parents we will support him so that he can fulfill all his dreams and purposes since he has been demonstrating it since he was very little.”
