Electricity Subsidy for Vulnerable Families Promoted in Tarapacá

18 Jun 2024

  • In a Regional Cabinet, the implementation of this measure was announced, which provides access to a monthly discount on electricity bills.

Within the framework of the information campaign of the recently announced Electricity Subsidy of the Ministry of Energy, which seeks to beat the increases in electricity rates that have been accumulating since 2019 as a result of the social outbreak and the pandemic, a Regional Cabinet was held at the Arturo University Prat de Iquique.

The objective of this initiative was to announce to the regional ministerial secretaries the operation of this temporary benefit and to coordinate actions to extend this information to the rest of the citizens.

Through the collaboration of the seremis, it is expected to ensure its effective execution to benefit the maximum number of families in the region. In this regard, the Regional Presidential Delegate of Tarapacá (s), Camila Castillo, said. “This is a benefit that allows us to go directly to the aid of the most vulnerable families in our region. With this we will relieve the pockets of thousands of families in Tarapacá, thus achieving one of the objectives of our Government, which is to financially support those who need it most with concrete measures.”

During the meeting, Seremi Sefora Sidgman emphasized her commitment to ensuring that the greatest number of families in Tarapacá can access the Subsidy. “Through this intersectoral work we seek to guarantee that families in the region access this benefit, given that it allows for expanded information about how the subsidy works. The participation of public institutions, such as Social Development and Family and their departments, allows us to promote and provide support to vulnerable people or groups in the expense of the electricity bill.”

For his part, the Seremi of Social Development and Family, Cristian Jara, explained. “A page will be enabled so that people can access this subsidy and the requirement to access is to belong to the most vulnerable 40% in the Social Household Registry, where priority will be given to those who are part of the care system. For this reason, we call on you to register as a caregiver, on the one hand, and update the information in the Social Household Registry with the unique key.”

To apply for the Electricity Subsidy you must enter www.subsidioelectrico.cl and meet two requirements: belong to the most vulnerable 40% in the Social Registry of Households (RSH) and be up to date on your electricity bill. The first call begins on Monday, July 1 and ends Sunday, July 14.
