Gendarmerie participated in the 203rd anniversary of the passage to immortality of General D. Martín Miguel de Güemes

It began at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday the 16th, at the foot of the Monument to General D. Martín Miguel de Güemes (city of Salta), which was presided over by the Vice President of the Nation Dr. Victoria Eugenia Villarruel, the Governor of the province of Salta Dr. Gustavo Sáenz, among other provincial authorities. In addition, representatives of the Federal and Provincial Forces and representing the National Gendarmerie were attended by the Head of Region IV “Tucumán”, Commander General Luis María Cané, and the Head of Group VII “Salta”, Commander Major Ramón Ariel Pereyra.

In the place, the Argentine National Anthem and Anthem to General D. Martín Miguel de Güemes were sung, then a minute of silence was held and the changing of the Guard of the Infernales, the “guard under the stars” commemorates the vigil of the faithful guachos of Güemes, at the moment they received the news that their leader was mortally wounded by an ambush by royalist troops.

The next day, at 09:00, in the Pantheon of Northern Glories in the Cathedral Basilica, the Governor and other authorities placed a wreath in honor of the gaucho hero and a religious invocation was made.

Subsequently, at the Monument to General D. Martín Miguel de Güemes, the Vice President of the Nation together with the provincial leader led the formation and gave the traditional greeting called “Grupación June 17”, which is directed to the trained troops.

Finally, the parade was carried out with a presentation of honors, with the participation of a total of 320 members of the National Gendarmerie, including the music band and members of the Units deployed in the provinces of Salta and Santiago del Estero, who were accompanied by the war flag and its escorts.
