The Secretary of the Government of Ibagué, Edward Amaya Márquez, reported that during the next two weeks, the city will implement restrictions for the transportation of grillers on motorcycles. This measure will be applied on June 20, 21 and 22, as well as June 27, 28, 29 and 30, with a specific schedule from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am

Amaya highlighted that the decision aims to reduce traffic accidents associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages and prevent possible criminal acts that could occur during these hours. «Given the increase in rumba, traffic accidents and criminal acts may increase. The idea is that if someone is riding a motorcycle at that time, they should not carry a barbecue,” she explained.

In addition, those who are caught violating this measure will face the immobilization of their motorcycle and will receive a summons. To ensure compliance, joint operations will be deployed between traffic agents and the Police.

And precisely another of the measures is related to the extension of rumba hours in some sectors of the Musical Capital.

Extension of hours for bars and clubs

Amaya also announced an extension of hours for bars and clubs during the holidays. Establishments in the urban area They will be able to operate until 5:00 am., while in rural areas the schedule is will extend until 1:00 am This measure will apply on the same days provided for the barbecue measure.

The extension of hours will be in force in specific sectors of the city, like Mirolindo Avenue, from 60th Street to 86th Street, and in shopping centers. This decision was made in a Security Council with the participation of representatives of the city’s Asobares and Fenalco. Amaya stressed that «“For commercial establishments in residential areas, the measure will not apply.”
