Rich programming for this week at the Valparaíso Cultural Park

This week the cultural agenda of Valparaíso is activated in the former Buenos Aires prison, as it will have a varied and extensive program that includes a circus musical, dance works, exhibitions and a book presentation. Below we invite you to review each of these activities.

On Wednesday, June 19 from 6:00 p.m. The book will be presented in the Study Room “Sexual political violence and State terrorism in the civil-military dictatorship in Chile. The dark genealogy of neoliberalism (Lom Ediciones, 2023) by the author Jocelyn Maldonado Garay, who analyzes the recent history of the West regarding modern war conflicts, introducing the concept of sexual political violence, and then applying it to the context of the civil-military dictatorship in Chile within the framework of State Terrorism and the emergence of neoliberalism. This activity, with free access, is organized by the University of Playa Ancha through the Memories of the Resistance of Valparaíso Research Center and the PCdV within the framework of the “I Conference on Studies on Memories and Resistance.”

Immersive Catharsis

This one-man show of contemporary dance, suitable for people over 14 years of age, is situated in the midst of a discussion about the body, its multiple states and possibilities. It is a proposal that invites us to question the hegemonic and colonial discourses on the aesthetic, the grotesque and the vibration. A work that resonates in the month of pride and diversity.

On Sunday, June 23, at 6:00 p.m., he will be presenting Carmen Lienqueo who was the voice of the group Mákina Kandela and who with her first LP won the PULSAR Award for best roots music album 2021.
