The capital repair of the building where the Matanzas bus terminal is located will begin on September 4, announced Vice Minister of Transportation Roberto Ricardo Marrero.
In the exchange with the participation of the members of a provincial commission, they decided that based on the extensive mobility during the summer, they will maintain intermunicipal and interprovincial services in the building that dates back to the 19th century.
The property presents terrible construction conditions and its prompt intervention cannot be postponed. In the place there are closed rooms, complex problems in the beams, supports, ceilings, false ceilings, rooms and hydrosanitary network that threaten the quality of the service and the health of workers and passengers.
The Project Company has already completed the plans. The proposal also includes improvements to outdoor areas, cafes and the park. The workers of the Matanzas Construction and Assembly Company will carry out the investment with financing from the Transportation Development Fund.
The work consists of four stages. In the first they will carry out the shoring of the building, the preparation of the temporary conditions.
Regarding the possible transfer of interprovincial services to the train terminal, the vice minister said that it is a measure still being evaluated because the opinion of the people must be heard. (LLOLL)
