A shocking road accident It occurred at the beginning of the long weekend and left the provisional toll of four dead so far, after two cars collided head-on on Route 39, in the department of Uruguay, province of Entre Ríos.

The tragic event occurred around 5:30 at kilometer 223 near the municipality of Caseros and was confirmed by the deputy commissioner of the Departmental Police, Martín Tello.

One of the vehicles involved was practically “unrecognizable,” the officer noted. The four lifeless bodies were found inside.

The other vehicle was a Volkswagen Passat, driven by a provincial official from Concepción del Uruguay, who was in critical condition and was rushed to the Urquiza Hospital, according to local media El Once.

According to said media, it would be Juan Ruiz Orrico, president of the Provincial Port Institute and three-time candidate for mayor of the city.

Route 39 had been closed to traffic while authorities carried out work to remove the remains of the vehicles involved in the fatal accident at the start of the long weekend.
