Camagüey, June 20 (RHC) The Camagüey Folkloric Ballet represents Cuba starting this Thursday at the ALBA Drums Meeting, Heartbeats of Our Identity, based in Venezuela.

According to what its director, teacher Reinaldo Echemendía, announced to the local press, in addition to the presentations in the Plaza Bolívar in the Venezuelan capital, the researcher will be in charge of the theoretical section.

“A lecture by me on Afro-Cuban culture expressed in the drum and one by Geraldine Gallardo Muñoz, our singer, on women and the drum, will also be presented,” he said.

In addition, “we will present the shows “Eleguá Aggó” and “Todo Mixed.” Also optional we carry “Omío Yemayá”, he stated about the works on stage, Echemendía.

According to the official ALBA-TCP website, “it is a space to highlight the brotherhood and cultural identity of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) , as well as a meeting point for solidarity.”

Precisely at the beginning of April in this heritage city, a special day was dedicated to Echemendía, a faithful defender of the most intrinsic roots of Cuba.

The Camagüey Folkloric Ballet has a curriculum of works linked to the legacy of the Yoruba religion and a mix of traditions that distinguish it in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The ALBA-TCP website itself explains in the publication that the ALBA Drum Meeting is the first cultural space created by the Alliance to strengthen the common identity between the countries that make it up. (Source:PL)
