Former Governor Jhon Rojas responds to President Petro’s accusations

In a recent visit to the municipality of Ipiales, the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro Urrego, denounced the alleged theft of funds intended for peace during the year 2021, implicating the former governor of Nariño, Jhon Alexander Rojas, who was in charge of the department. in the period 2020-2023. Petro pointed out that the unexecuted and lost resources came from the Collegiate Body of Administration and Decision Peace (Ocad Paz) and the General Royalties System. Given this situation, the president asked the director of the National Planning Department (DNP), Alexander López, to hire a specialized forensic audit to investigate the unexecuted and supposedly misappropriated resources.

Former governor’s response

In response to the accusations, the former governor of Nariño, Jhon Alexander Rojas, issued a letter addressed to President Gustavo Petro, in which he defended his management and requested an exhaustive investigation to clarify the facts. In his letter, Rojas expressed:

Mr. President, in my capacity as a citizen I allow myself to respectfully use the right to due process and protect my fundamental rights to honor and good name, being affected by publications on social networks and in the regional spoken media. and writings, as a result of the statement made on your part, in the municipality of Ipiales – Nariño, on June 11, on the resources assigned to the regions, specifically to the Department of Nariño, in the Period 2020 – 2023, I respectfully inform you the following: I served as Governor of Nariño in the period 2020-2023, for this reason I must specify without fear of mistake, the Department of Nariño does not have the power to prioritize and approve projects in the OCAD PAZ, since this Collegiate Body of Administration and of Decision, is directed by the National Planning Department, through the Directorate of the General Royalties System and is the one who acts as the Technical Secretary.”
