Undefeated Colombian team: these countries have been champions without losing in the Copa América | Copa America 2024

The Colombian National Team arrives undefeated at the 2024 Copa América and for many, it has the champion label on its forehead due to its important numbers since coach Néstor Lorenzo took over.

Although Colombia is a favorite not only for the moment, but because the same players have made becoming champions their main objective, the task is difficult, because there are others that are always forced to win such as Argentina, Brazil or Uruguay.

The dream is not impossible and with this National Team one could expect a setback as it has already been achieving against world powers.

Colombia has already achieved a Copa América finishing undefeated, being that feat in 2001 where it did not lose a game during the competition, so that record can be repeated again, but in an improved version.

Undefeated champions in Copa América

Taking advantage of the good position that Colombia arrives with, we review the winners that finished the tournament without losing a game, with Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil being the ones that have achieved that record the most.

Uruguay is the team that has won the most in this tournament under the condition of not losing anything and two of those opportunities, they managed to finish without conceding a goal and with all the games won, being in 1917 and 1987.

Argentina, one of the candidates for the title in this edition after being the current world champion of the competition, has 12 titles without losing a game, although on only four occasions did they manage to win all the games (1921, 1927, 1941 and 1946).

Brazil also sits alongside these teams and has achieved six titles without losing, but two of them winning everything, in 1997 and 1999.

On the list of surprises, Peru, Bolivia and Chile appear, who together with Colombia have a title with an undefeated team. The Peruvians were champions with all their games won in 1939, La Roja did so in 2015, (although they did not win all their games) and the coffee growers ended up lifting the goal without conceding a goal and obtaining victories in that final against Mexico in El Campín.

In this way, some teams could be emerging that historically achieved an undefeated Copa América, with Colombia being one of the great invitees to at least fight for the final and leave historic numbers if they manage to extend their streak of duels without losing.
