The provincial government continues to monitor the evolution of activity to take care of the sectors most affected by the economic contraction, stated the Ministry of Finance of Misiones.

According to national revenue data, during the first four months of the year, economic activity at the country level shows a drop of close to 23%. Against this context, according to provincial records of sales declared by missionary companies, during the same period the contraction in Misiones was around 16%. In this way, the province is positioned as one of the jurisdictions where the drop in economic activity was lower than the impact of the recession at the national level.

Regarding the performance of each specific activity in Misiones, the greatest falls are observed in the areas of construction (-65%), domestic services (-70%), professional services (-36%) and leisure services (-41%). . While the wholesale and retail commercial sector registered a contraction of 21% and the industry of 13%. The only sectors that managed to improve their activity levels were the financial sector (+19%), public services (+12%) and agriculture (+2%).

Within the industrial sector, it stands out that the most affected items were the manufacturing of construction products (-43%), clothing and footwear (-37%), tobacco (-28%) and industries serving other industries ( -twenty-one%); while other sectors such as the forestry industry (-9%) and food industry (-2%) showed milder falls; and other sectors, such as herbal medicine (+3%), managed to expand their activity.

In the commercial sector, analyzing the items with the greatest participation in the provincial economy, the strongest falls are observed in the retail sale of construction materials (-42%), retail sale of clothing (-46% ), automobiles (-35%), supermarkets (-26%), minimarkets (-21%), wholesale food supermarkets (-18%), household appliances (-52%), cameras and covers (-46%, important to note which is a record prior to the launch of the new program Ahora Neumáticos), and home furniture (-54%). In contrast, also within the items with the greatest participation in provincial trade, sales of pharmaceutical products grew (+64%), the sale of medical and dental instruments (+68%) and the sale of yerba, tea, coffee and infusions (+42%).

«The compilation and analysis of this data, which corresponds to the provincial economic evolution during the first four months of this year and does not contemplate the collection but the sales declared by the companies grouped under the same activity code, is part of a permanent monitoring of “The activities that the Government of Misiones has been carrying out, information that allows us to see which sectors are most affected by the recession at the national level with the aim of giving them special attention and evaluating actions and measures that allow us to mitigate the effects of a difficult situation.” observed the Minister of Finance, Adolfo Safrán.

“In this way, with this data available, from the Ministry of Finance of Misiones we are promoting different channels of dialogue and meetings with the business chambers to propose and jointly design different reactivation tools,” he stated.
