Venezuela reiterates condemnation of the United States blockade against Cuba

We denounce, as we do in all international forums, the opprobrious US blockade against the homeland of José Martí, Fidel Castro, Raúl Castro and President Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressed at the Simón Bolívar House Museum.

On this important day for our country, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan people, we stand in solidarity with the resistance of the Cubans, he said at the commemoration of the 203rd anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo.

Every June 24, the island commemorates the Battle of Carabobo, which represents the victorious conclusion of the emancipation process of Venezuela, and also the birth of the Bolivarian Army.

Maneiro Gaspar, likewise, criticized the policies of the North American government aimed at extending economic, political and cultural control in the Caribbean, Central America and the south of the continent, and condemned its interference in the affairs of Nicaragua.

The diplomat also highlighted the importance of the Battle and the Bolivarian Army, which he considered a vital force to defend the socialist project that Hugo Chávez started and Maduro continues in that South American nation.

Prior to his speech, the diplomat received the Army Order of Merit, which recognizes those who have a high institutional spirit and made significant contributions to the achievement of the traditional values of that armed institution.

Likewise, he laid a wreath at the monument erected to the memory of Simón Bolívar in the Historic Center of Havana, in a ceremony that included the participation of other diplomats accredited in this capital and several personalities.
