In this context, we call on all our affiliates, sister organizations and citizens to gather next Tuesday, June 25, in the main squares of each city in support of our colleagues.“, indicated the CGT.

In the General Confederation of Labor there is a division of those who support President Gustavo Petro and others who have stated that they are against the president. Thus, those who support the Strike Committee defended autonomous unionism, describing it as “majoritarian.”

“It is vital that the national government listen to the call of our colleagues in the Ministry of Labor and seek a negotiated solution to the conflict. Likewise, we request that the Minister of Labor. Gloria Inés Ramírez Ríos, sits down to talk with her own workers within the framework of social dialogue and compliance with agreements and address your legitimate and legal claims“, specified the CGT.

Weeks ago, the Strike Committee, in a letter addressed to Minister Gloria Inés Ramírez, to Vice Ministers Edwin Palma Egea and Iván Daniel Jaramillo Jassir, among other senior officials of the portfolio, denounced a compilation of behaviors that they consider inappropriate in their right to strike.

In the letter, the unions of the Ministry of Labor accused senior managers at the central and territorial level, including the director of Inspection, Surveillance, Control and Territorial Management, to impose on officials to continue performing their duties during the strike.

Likewise, they denounced the issuance of administrative acts for the commission of public servant services during the strike, as well as the carrying out of virtual training under the argument that they are mandatory. The unions also stated that the territorial director in charge and some coordinators had instructed officials to work from home.

“They are urging officials with instructions to continue carrying out their duties with the clear objective of breaking the strike process, For what we consider, they are involved in the commission of the crime established in article 200 of the Punitive Statute,” the Strike Committee indicated in the letter.

For this reason, they called on officials to respect the right to strike, emphasizing that they are open to dialogue with the aim of agreeing on a contingency plan.

The letter from the Strike Committee concluded with a call to senior officials of the Ministry of Labor so that they avoid behavior that violates the right to strike.
