A legal services assistance brigade was organized and executed by the Ombudsman’s Office in the city of Riohacha in order to be able to provide help and professional support in matters of law to dozens of citizens who have difficulty enforcing their rights, mainly those related to health.
The lawyer Soraya Escobarombudsman in La Guajira, said that initially a total of three public defenders arrived at the auditorium of the Liceo Nacional Almirante Padilla, where the event was being held, a last resort that should be used, since the EPS had committed themselves to know the cases and give them a solution almost in real time, that is to say that they did not go there to present guardianships or draw up minutes, but to solve the health problems between the parties.
The idea was to expedite everything that was impeded, such as medications, procedures, transfers, comprehensive care and everything that had not been achieved. “In these cases, the EPS would have to give a very in-depth and legal explanation to justify not providing the service, but the idea is not to generate a complaint, but to solve a problem as quickly as possible.”said Soraya Escobar.
The event started from 8:00 in the morning until noon and then from 2:00 in the afternoon until 6:00 pm
He indicated that at that site of the Liceo Padilla not only were problems being solved, but services were also being presented such as vaccination against influenza and other illnesses that are circulating in the region. He finally indicated that, if there is a very complex case, and the EPS did not solve it, then they would proceed with a guardianship and file a PQR. This Tuesday, other services in different branches of law were also provided.
Teacher expectations
We are attentive to this day and we want these authorities to listen to the teachers because we have many health problems and on many occasions we have had to use guardianships against the special provider of educators.
The teacher and lawyer Julio Garciasaid that the Regional Committee of Social Benefits must be attentive to these events and requested that everything that is happening in that brigade must be taken to the Regional Committee of Benefits and work in accordance with the Trustee that administers the benefit contract. of health to the Guajiro teachers.
The event was very productive and from early on the health service users arrived at the tables where they were awaited by lawyers and other advisors and by the EPS to learn about the concerns of each citizen.
