JetSmart, the low-cost airline, began operating its new route between Medellín and San Andrés this week.
The new route is part of the second phase of the expansion plan in Colombia, after having started domestic operations in the month of March.
The flights began last Thursday, June 27, and are operated with five weekly frequencies on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays on Airbus A320neo aircraft with capacity for 186 passengers.
On the day of the start of operations in the domestic market, JetSmart announced the launch of its operations center at the José María Córdova International Airport, which serves the city of Medellín. From there, it operates an average of 18 daily flights to: Bogotá, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Cali, Pereira, Cúcuta and San Andrés.

For his part, Javier Benítez, manager of the José María Córdova International Airport, mentioned: “The sea of seven colors and the Caribbean culture are closer to Antioquia and to all the passengers who pass through our air terminal, because with this direct route to San Andrés, JetSmart is betting on more connection opportunities that are added to the 12 national destinations that we operate from the Airport. We wish them much success in the new challenges and we will continue working with their team and all the airlines so that those who visit us find in our region a world of possibilities to offer more flights and new routes.”
