JetSmart, the low-cost airline, began operating its new route between Medellín and San Andrés this week.

The new route is part of the second phase of the expansion plan in Colombia, after having started domestic operations in the month of March.

The flights began last Thursday, June 27, and are operated with five weekly frequencies on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays on Airbus A320neo aircraft with capacity for 186 passengers.

On the day of the start of operations in the domestic market, JetSmart announced the launch of its operations center at the José María Córdova International Airport, which serves the city of Medellín. From there, it operates an average of 18 daily flights to: Bogotá, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Cali, Pereira, Cúcuta and San Andrés.

The Low Cost model returns to San Andrés! We are confident that this new route will be key to the reactivation of the island, in collaboration with the Government of San Andrés and the Gustavo Rojas Pinilla Airport. Our goal is to facilitate the mobilization of more people in the island’s skies and we are excited to offer affordable and high-quality flights to all Colombians. We cannot lose sight of the fact that our bases in Bogotá and Medellín are strategic for connectivity and promote new destinations such as this one that we are launching today to San Andrés.“said Mario García, Country Manager of JetSmart Colombia.

For his part, Javier Benítez, manager of the José María Córdova International Airport, mentioned: “The sea of seven colors and the Caribbean culture are closer to Antioquia and to all the passengers who pass through our air terminal, because with this direct route to San Andrés, JetSmart is betting on more connection opportunities that are added to the 12 national destinations that we operate from the Airport. We wish them much success in the new challenges and we will continue working with their team and all the airlines so that those who visit us find in our region a world of possibilities to offer more flights and new routes.

We have the arrival of the JetSmart airline to our department, which represents a significant strengthening of the air connectivity of our destination. This translates into affordable fares for our visitors and a boost to the competitiveness of our region. With this addition, we hope to continue developing the different routes that connect us nationally and continue strengthening the international market of the Southern Cone, which is of great importance for our destination. We are especially focusing on countries such as Peru and Chile, which now have direct connectivity to our country.“said Ricardo Camacho, Secretary of Tourism of San Andrés.

The airline has launched a launch promotion for those interested in flying on the Medellín – San Andrés – Medellín route using the promotional code “1ERVUELO” which must be entered at the time of purchase.
