Casa de Nariño will receive members of the LGBTIQ+ community in the June 30 march

In a joint statement between the Presidency and the Ministry of Equality, reported that this June 30, International LGBTI+ Pride Day, the Casa de Nariño will welcome members of the community through the halls of the Palace.

Likewise, it is mentioned in the document that among the events that are going to take place During the day, the flag that identifies the colors that represent sexual and gender diversity is raised.

“The raising of the flag in the main square at the Casa de Nariño is more than a symbol, it is a sign of our commitment with this population that has historically been stigmatized, discriminated against and excluded, especially in rural areas and ethnic communities.”

On the other hand, the Ministry of Equality and Equity, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and the National Planning Department, assured that they are working on the construction of the LGBTIQ+ National Public Policy document using CONPES methodology.

Recently, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Brazilian government the desire to create collaborations and exchange information regarding regulations, public policies, information gathering and rights of the LGBTIQ+ population.

“We join the voices that were raised against police oppression and discrimination against homosexual people 55 years ago in a bar in New York and that were heard around the world,” says the Presidency.
