San Luis Potosí’s occupancy rate increases in May

The occupancy rate in San Luis Potosi increased slightly during May 2024, compared to May 2023. This was reported by the most recent National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) of INEGI.

In this sense, in May 2024 and with original figures, the Economically Active Population (PEA) was 61.4 million people, which implied a participation rate of 60.5 percent. This population was higher than that of May 2023, by 1.4 million people.

Of this figure, 59.8 million people were employed (97.4%) last May, that is, 1.6 million more than in May 2023.

Occupancy rate increases in San Luis Potosí in May

Under this context, San Luis Potosi visualized a slight increase in the occupancy rate, with 97.8% in May 2024. For the same period in 2023, the figure was 97.5%.

For its part, Michoacan led the occupancy rate in Mexico, with 98.9%, consolidating itself as the state with the highest occupancy. In contrast, Tabasco recorded the lowest rate with 95.9%.

However, the distribution of the employed population by sector in May 2024 was concentrated as follows:

  • Services: 26 million people (43.5%)
  • Trade: 11.8 million (19.7%)
  • Manufacturing industry: 10 million (16.8%)
  • Agricultural activities: 6.2 million (10.4%)
  • Construction: 4.9 million (8.2%)
  • Other economic activities (mining, electricity, water and gas supply): 434 thousand (0.7%)
  • Unspecified: 374 thousand people (0.6%)

Finally, the sectors with the greatest increase in their employed population were: constructionwith 475 thousand people; manufacturing industrywith 461 thousand; restaurants and Accommodation Serviceswith 451 thousand, and social serviceswith 222 thousand.
