Anguish takes hold of the community El Bosque neighborhood, in the southwest of Barranquilla, where an intense search has been underway since Friday afternoon to find the whereabouts of a 9-year-old boy who disappeared after falling into the channel of a stream that runs through the area.

According to reports from relatives, the boy was playing with other children in the rain when the ball they were playing with rolled into the stream. When he tried to retrieve it, the boy was swept away by the current, disappearing from the sight of his classmates.

A video captured by a security camera at the scene has been crucial to understanding the details of the accident.

The images show the group of children playing in the rain, when one of them breaks away from the group and runs after the ball that is heading towards the stream. Moments later, the child is swept away by the force of the current, without the others being able to do anything to stop it.

Relief agencies are looking for him

The Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla, together with the residents of the El Bosque neighborhood, They have deployed a search operation that extends through the different branches of the stream, aware of the complexity of the terrain and the possibility that the minor has been dragged to areas that are difficult to access.

Authorities began searching for the little boy.

It is worth remembering that the stream in question is part of a network of torrents in the southwest of the city that interconnect and feed the León stream.

This network, which even connects Barranquilla with a rainwater system coming from Galapa, makes the search task difficult by considerably expanding the area where the minor could be found.
