“There are people who don’t learn…”: Rodolfo Carter responds to Evelyn Matthei’s ugly disregard

The mayor of La Florida, Rodolfo Carter, responded to Evelyn Matthei’s denial.

Yesterday, on Infinita radio, the head of the Providencia municipality said that she does not see the mayor “arousing any interest” in the citizenry in his imminent race for La Moneda.

“It has happened to me many times that I have brought along a candidate for deputy or mayor, who I thought was going to catch on. At least (Carter) for now I don’t see him catching on.”he explained.

What did Carter respond?

Asked about these statements, Carter stated that “The mayor has had a very bad week with the government, it has been a very bad week for her, and we have publicly supported her, because we believe that, indeed, the problem of drug trafficking is something that must be overthrown”.

“We are going to continue supporting her publicly, despite this very inappropriate reaction she just had, because the only thing that matters to Chileans is that we defeat crime.”he added.

However, he clarified that “more than learning, you have to learn. And there are people who do not learn that politics is done by adding and not subtracting, that politics is done by adding and not by ignoring. That’s why we are going to continue supporting her.”.

“Unfortunately, those comments speak more about the mayor than about me”he sentenced.
