The joint work between different agencies of the department has allowed the seizure of adulterated liquor and cigarettes, as well as the sealing of establishments for illegal marketing, all actions aimed at strengthening and safeguarding local finances.
Within the framework of the San Pedro festivities, the Government of Huila headed by Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, through the Secretary of the Treasury and the National Federation of Departments, as well as strategic allies such as the National Police, Metropolitan Police, SIJÍN and the DIAN, intensified inspection, surveillance and control visits with the anti-smuggling group in all establishments where liquor, beer and cigarettes are distributed and sold.
According to the Secretary of Finance, Sonia Mora Orrego, the main objective of these control operations is to verify the legality of these products to guarantee to locals and visitors that their consumption does not affect their health and integrity, managing to remove from the market a large quantity of contraband liquor and cigarettes as well as a large number of bottles of adulterated liquor.
“Important actions such as sealing billiard establishments, gastrobars, tobacconists and nightclubs, among others, due to non-compliance with the legality of liquor and cigarettes, are some of the most significant achievements to promote safe parties.”The idea is that the guild works under the parameters of legality, being clear that non-compliance can lead to confiscation of products, sealing of establishments and fines, so we have to be careful to consume our own and act within the law.”said the official.
“We are telling the people of Huila, the 37 mayors, that we have to consume our own so that the tax stays in our department. If we consume a shot of Doble Anís aguardiente we are contributing to health, sports, educational institutions and infrastructure, so it is very important to raise awareness among all the people of Huila so that they consume our own and to raise awareness about the strategy that we launched in February, which are fundamental strategies, that consuming locally is sustainable.”, assured the Secretary of the Treasury.

The official stressed that the effectiveness of the operations allowed the seizure of a total of $50 million corresponding to 472 bottles of illegal liquor, as well as cigarettes, which translates into a significant blow to smuggling that by 2022, will be recorded at 29%, affecting department finances.
“This great result is the product of a team that has been working 24-7 on the operations that the anti-smuggling network has been carrying out at all hours, visiting the municipalities so far we have made 680 visits, obviously Neiva has been the strong one but also in Pitalito, in Garzón, in La Plata and in the surrounding municipalities with complaints such as Palermo, Íquira and other municipalities in the rural area as well as in the urban area. We have seized liquors that do not pay us in consumption, they do not pay taxes.”.
He also emphasized the importance of legal consumption to contribute to the department’s finances with the consumption of local liquor such as Doble Anís liquor, which will contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Huila, improving investment in health and sports.
“We want all Huila residents and visitors to buy, sell and consume legally, in this way we are safeguarding the investment in health, education and sports in the department and protecting the health of all consumers. It is very important that they check the lid, which has a bar code, which guarantees the authenticity of the product, this is how we consume our own, consuming legally endures.”, he concluded.
