Since the early hours of this June 26, Army soldiers trained in disaster response and prevention have been deployed in the municipality of Venice, Antioquia, to provide support and assistance to the populationwhich faces a difficult situation due to heavy rains.

Within the framework of the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, whose strategic objective is the protection of the civilian population, the command of the Fourth Brigade of the National Army reacted immediately upon learning of the emergency affecting Venecia.

Soldiers of the Disaster Assistance and Prevention Engineer Battalion No. 81, Trained and equipped to handle this type of situation, they were sent to the affected area.

Since their arrival, the soldiers have worked tirelessly to assist the victims and carry out an exhaustive search for missing persons. They say efforts will continue to ensure every Venice resident receives the help they need.

During the search and rescue efforts, they rescued a reptile that had been swept away by the avalanche.

The animal was treated and stabilized before being handed over to the competent authorities for care.

For their part, different authorities are also making progress in the evacuation of 52 families and have already carried out 12 reconnaissance visits to critical places of possible new avalanches or landslides. So far there is a record of 92 people affected and 402 affected.

The uniformed men, together with state entities, will continue to provide their invaluable help to the inhabitants of Venice, reaffirming their role as true guardians of the nation.
