There is an alert throughout the Colombian Caribbean, including Antioquia, for a tropical storm named Beryl, that is approaching the coasts of the country. The authorities carry out constant monitoring.

The tropical storm, known as Beryl, is advancing in the Caribbean Sea, near Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and the Lesser Antilles. IDEAM is assessing whether this storm will pass through Colombia or deviate.

However, the alert is for the departments of the archipelago of San Andrés, La Guajira, Magdalena, Atlántico, Sucre, Córdoba, Chocó and Antioch.

“Tropical depression number two has formed. This depression is currently far from our territory. It should be noted that tonight it could reach tropical storm status outside the Caribbean Sea and by Sunday, June 30, it could evolve into a hurricane,” explained Ghisliane Echeverry, director of IDEAM.

According to IDEAM forecasts, Beryl could be passing through the coasts of the Colombian Caribbean Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, although the entity reiterates that there is uncertainty regarding the path of the storm.
