The identity of children who died after a gold mine slide in Antioquia is known

There is sadness in the municipality of Nechí, Antioquia, for the death of two minors in a landslide at a gold mine. In addition, two other children were injured.

Who are the children who died in the gold mine?

The heavy rains that hit this area of ​​Colombia caused the landslide that killed Samuel Arroyo, 11, and John Bohórquez, 14, in a gold mine in Nechí, Antioquia.

Two other minors were injured. “These children are humble and hard-working people who, from childhood, began to earn a living in an empirical way. So, they were given an opportunity in this work to earn some money for their studies,” reported Juan Rentería, commander of the Nechí Fire Department.

The tragedy occurred in the Las Flores district. The body of one of the minors was found after five hours of searching and the injured were taken to healthcare centers.

Carlos Andrés Ríos, director of Dragan in Antioquia, reported that “All capacities were in place to search for the bodies. Four people from the Fire Department, Civil Defense and the community helped us with the Municipal Risk Management Council to activate all inter-institutional capacities to search for the minors.”

The mayor of Nechí regretted what happened and the authorities are advancing in the corresponding investigations.

“The rescue was carried out from 5:00 in the afternoon until 11:00 at night, which was carried out successfully. There were community members who put their heart into it,” said the commander of the Nechí Fire Department.

The injured children are 15 and 12 years old. One of them is in a delicate state of health.
