Córdoba: They ask for reports on the situation of the Parque de la Vida, where the municipality intends to connect Manantiales – ENREDACCION – Córdoba

The councilors of the Civic Front, the UCR and the Citizens Block of the city of Córdoba made a request for information to the municipal Executive Power on the situation of the Parque de la Vida. The initiative states that “they want to know if the project of fractioning the park to provide (road) connectivity to the Manantiales neighborhood – a controversial real estate development located in the south of the city – is definitively discarded and, if so, if a rehabilitation project for the Parque de la Vida is being developed, environmentally sustainable, that protects the ecosystem and the most important green lung of the southwest area of the city.”

The presentation also demands information on “whether the reconstruction of the cycle lanes removed on January 8 of this year is planned, whose debris is still distributed along the route.”

They also ask the Executive about “if the project for the destination of the water surpluses of the basin is being carried out, planning delay lagoons, diversion and discharge channels and reduction of the FIS (Soil Waterproofing Factor).”

The councilors remember in the foundations of the project, that “The Park of Life was enabled in 1992, during the administration of Rubén Marti, in the south-west area of the city, surrounded by the Matienzo, Parque Capital, Rosedal, Ameghino Sud neighborhoods. , Matienzo Extension, Balcarce, Rosedal Extension, ATE, Capital Sur Park, René Favaloro and Manantiales.”

Fourth quarter

They point out that “the active struggle of the neighbors to ensure that this green surface maintains its natural characteristics, prevents deforestation and does not increase the waterproofing of the soil, is of ancient date. The group Preserving the Park of Life has prevented, on several occasions, interventions that violated said environmental precepts.”

Telecom

They explain that “the location of this park represents the source of the La Cañada stream, to which has been added the contribution of the urbanization of the Manantiales neighborhood and the Anisacate drain that adds the water surplus of the Villa Libertador neighborhood, reaching the point of the last rains to practically overflow this stream in the central area of the city. If to these characteristics, we add deforestation, the execution of paving with its consequent waterproofing effect, and the lack of a serious hydrological study, the consequences can be disastrous.”

Finally, they state that “on January 9, the residents, accompanied by councilors of the Civic Front of Córdoba, managed to stop the work of opening streets in the park. Today, 5 months later, the debris from the removal of the existing cycle paths is still there, and there is no news of new projects or reports on hydrological or environmental impact studies.”
