The Celestino Sagaseta square looks renovated and to the liking of the families of the Belgrano neighborhood, on its 89th founding anniversary. It has more greenery and shade, games and integrators for children, brand new perimeter and diagonal sidewalks three meters wide that allow less pedestrian circulation and accessibility, new urban furniture and important LED lighting that extends the use of this space at night and It provides security to the local inhabitants.

Located on Copahue and Linares streets, it is a green space of 1,400 square meters in the middle of houses. The difference between before and after is notable: it offers a safe, accessible and inclusive environment for the enjoyment of all ages.

An idea of ​​the positive impact on the lives of families is given by the president of the neighborhood commission, Karina Leiva, when she pointed out that “this work means a lot not only for the neighbors, but for the city, because it was a space that had been abandoned for a long time. time”. “Thanks to the Municipality, thanks to Mariano (Gaido, mayor) and to all the officials who are available,” she continued.

She said that “the neighbors went with this complaint and, the truth is, they gave us this response that was very fast and it turned out beautiful,” added the resident.

The square is located in the heart of the Belgrano neighborhood, “it is close to educational institutions, bus stops, so this work was necessary and even more so when our mayor asks us to be in all the neighborhoods,” said the Undersecretary of Administrative and Institutional Coordination, Noelia Rueda.

Patricia Vera, Undersecretary for Green Space Maintenance, spoke about the work carried out: “We removed existing barriers and added wide sidewalks that allow accessibility for people with reduced mobility and also for children. In addition, we created a connection between Copahue and 15 de Agosto streets that did not exist before.”

He also referred to the addition of LED lights, new games, benches and tables, the built-in forestation and two murals painted on large walls that give life to the space.

The comprehensive remodeling was carried out by the Sub-secretariats of Public Space Maintenance and Green Spaces belonging to the Secretariat of Mobility and Citizen Services of the Municipality of Neuquén.

The renovation works included:

  • Construction of new perimeter and diagonal sidewalks.
  • Consolidation of the platform and placement of a bus booth on Copahue Street where three bus lines pass. It has rest equipment and a waste basket for greater user comfort.
  • Incorporation of new and integrative games for children, promoting inclusive play and interaction between children of different ages and abilities.
  • Installation of urban furniture, such as benches and tables, for rest and recreation of residents.
  • Construction of accessibility ramps, which guarantee access to the square for people with reduced mobility.
  • Afforestation, planting shrubs and trees that provide temperature control, purify the air and offer shade during hot weather.
  • Landscaping and installation of a sprinkler irrigation system, which ensure the care of the green space and optimize the use of water.
  • LED lighting through underground wiring, this improves security and enjoyment time in the square.
