During the last hours, in a joint operation between the Basic Criminal Investigation Unit of the Popayán Metropolitan Police and the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor’s Office, two men were captured by court order for the crime of aggravated domestic violence. This operational result was achieved amid intensified police controls in the region.
The first capture procedure was carried out on a public street in the Centro neighborhood of Popayán. A 31-year-old man was arrested in compliance with a court order issued by the Third Municipal Criminal Court of the capital of Cauca. This individual was reported on February 5, 2024 by her romantic partner, who accused the person involved of subjecting her to physical and verbal abuse on a recurring basis between the years 2023 and 2024.
Once the body of evidence was obtained by the judicial investigators, the accused was required by the competent authority to answer for the aforementioned facts.

In the central area of Popayán, a second man was captured for events that occurred between June 21, 2015 and February 2024. This individual, 43 years old, is accused of physically and verbally attacking his 70-year-old parents, in addition to threatening one of them with giving him a toxic substance (poison) in order to put his life at risk.
The person involved was informed of his rights as a captured person and was placed at the disposal of the competent authority to answer for the facts.
Both individuals are awaiting the court’s decision in a public hearing to bring charges. Local authorities have reiterated their commitment to continue with control and monitoring operations to guarantee the safety and protection of citizens, especially in cases of domestic violence.
