In the urban area, exactly, in the Galán neighborhood, a mass movement occurred. preventively evacuating a person who lived at the top of the slope. Something similar happened in the El Nevado neighborhood, where a mass movement was registered there and a family was evacuated.
“On the road leading to the La Francia neighborhood from Parque del Agua, there were fallen trees, the official fire department immediately went to the scene. It is important to highlight that the rainy season continues and we continue preparing to reduce risk conditions. It should be noted that the municipality of Manizales has some mitigation works, but that does not mean that mass movements will not occur, so we must be prepared,” emphasizes Diego Armando Rivera, director of the Risk Management Unit of Manizales.
The official adds that in the city there is an alert system that allows measuring in real time what the rainfall and accumulated rain are and the place where it is most recorded is in the CHEC sector, where there are about 180 millimeters.
