It was to be expected that, despite Argentina’s perfect start in this Copa América, Alejandro Garnacho continues to generate divided opinions. It’s something that has become the norm with the Manchester United star, at least internationally.
For much of his young career, fans in Argentina have been divided when it comes to the teenager and that divide continues in these opening moments of his first major tournament.
Garnacho is one of Argentina’s most talked about players in this Copa América despite the fact that he hasn’t spent a single second on the field. His teammates, of course, have taken care of business, sweeping both Canada and Chile to start the Copa América. However, despite the perfect six-point start for Argentina, one question continues to resonate on social media.
“Why doesn’t Garnacho play?”
The answer is complicated. However, after two wins that were a little tougher than many expected, Argentina may need their young winger to breathe some life into the attack, particularly in the third and final group stage match against Peru.
