According to Kenny Ortigas Guerrero, director of Provincial Culture, this summer is marked by a complex economic situation, but “work has been done in the province to offer quality options and shake the people.”

The motivations, as pointed out by Dresmer Rojas García, ideological leader of the Young Communist League in the province, are various. “On this occasion,” he said, “history guides us and we will be paying tribute to the anniversary of the assaults on the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Moncada barracks, the School Games, the birthday of Fidel Castro and International Youth Day.”

Among the activities, several spaces stand out that leave the physical area of the institutions, in which different artistic manifestations will converge. And, in addition to the main squares and parks of the city, a large artistic brigade called Riding with Fidel will arrive to the communities in transformation, made up of young people and established artists.

As Ortiga Guerrero specified, many of the actions focus on combating cultural decolonization and inertia, which is why workshops on local music and dance, conferences on history, among other elements, will be held.

Likewise, theatrical works will be premiered, the Ballet of Camagüey will carry out a small tour through municipalities of Camagüey, the provincial library will occupy public spaces and museums and libraries will offer activities for the people.

Young people will have an active participation thanks to the Federation of Secondary School Students, which will tour the city’s neighbourhoods with music and talks, and the Hermanos Saíz Association will hold highly anticipated events such as the Literary Crusade.

There will also be cultural fairs, workshops related to animation, voice-overs and other elements, as well as film premieres, concerts and book sales.

A summer with economic difficulties, but, as the local authorities assured at the meeting, it will be characterized by having a lot of music and different activities for the enjoyment of the people of Agramonte.
