Lagging departments

Potosí postponed rabies vaccination until July 6 and 7, due to the Chutillos festival. The department of Santa Cruz set this task for Augustboth have planned vaccination in coordination with the Ministry of Health, they said from that office.

Two days of vaccination

This Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th, the brigades will be deployed in squares, parks, schools and in first level health establishments. At the same time, the mobile teams will go from house to house immunizing dogs and cats free of charge, explained the Ministry of Health.

Three-phase campaign

“The campaign has a microplanning that has been worked on since February with the Departmental Health Services (SEDES) and the municipalities to find the best strategies and achieve greater vaccination coverage in three phases; the first, focused on two days of mass vaccination,” indicates the ministry.

As a second phase, the consolidation vaccine week will be entered; For seven days, a search will be carried out in neighborhoods, health centers or network managements that did not reach optimal coverage.

The third phase includes maintenance vaccination, which lasts all year, until the next campaign. The aim is to capture new litters of pets that were not vaccinated and those that were not immunized.

They seek to exceed the coverage of 2023

Salamanca expects that this year (2024) the 91% coverage will be maintained or exceeded, taking into account that 180 cases were registered in 2023 and it was possible to reduce it to 24 cases so far this year.

The investment in 2024 reaches Bs 8.8 million bolivianos with a total of 3,685,817 doses, which will be used in the vaccination campaign. There is a reserve of 314,183 doses, which will be used for outbreak controls and maintenance vaccinations.

“We invite the population to protect and vaccinate their pets from the first month of age if they love them,” Salamanca concluded.
