This railway reaches a speed of up to 160 kilometers per hour and has a capacity of 236 seats each. However, that continental record could be in danger.

Another country in South America has planned an ambitious project to dethrone Chile with the fastest rail transportation in Latin America.

Peru is the country that wants to have the fastest train in South America. The Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) plans to develop a railway plan for unite two provinces (Lima and Inca) in just 2 hours at a speed that would reach the 200 kilometers per hour.

According to La República, the railway will have an infrastructure that includes 14 stations, it would be completely electric and the total length of the route would cover approximately 300 kilometers.

The project is estimated to require an investment of more than US$3.263 billion and would directly benefit around 6 million Peruvians.

When will it be ready?
