Peru is the country that wants to have the fastest train in South America. The Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) plans to develop a railway plan for unite two provinces (Lima and Inca) in just 2 hours at a speed that would reach the 200 kilometers per hour.
According to La República, the railway will have an infrastructure that includes 14 stations, it would be completely electric and the total length of the route would cover approximately 300 kilometers.
The project is estimated to require an investment of more than US$3.263 billion and would directly benefit around 6 million Peruvians.
When will it be ready?
According to According to Raúl Pérez Reyes, Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru, construction will begin in the first half of 2026 and is expected to be completed between 2031 and 2032.
