With eight gold medals, Valle del Cauca was crowned champion of the National Youth Boxing held in Cali. Followed by Atlántico with six golds and Antioquia with two gold metals, the Valle del Cauca team made its local status felt.

The event, which had the support of Indervalle, took place at the Miguel Calero Coliseum, where 320 boxers from 22 leagues in the country competed in the championship, which is a qualifier for the first National Youth Sports Games that will take place in November in the Coffee Region.

The ‘Valle Oro Puro’ delegation managed to qualify 24 athletes for the youth competitions and left the gold medalists as great protagonists, who won their fights. In the women’s category, Juanita Herrera stood out, who took the gold in the 48 kilograms, Yerlin Quiñonez in the 50 kilograms, Kelly Benítez in the 57 kilograms and Daniela Montoya in the 60 kilograms. In the men’s category, Andrés Santamaría took the title in the 54 kilograms, Fernando Salas in the 81 kilograms, Darwin Castillo in the 92 kilograms and Adolfo Cifuentes in the +92 kilograms.

For Yerlin Quiñones, national medalist and international reference for this red-and-white team, it was a championship full of challenges and preparation. “I am happy with the individual results, but also with this team that has worked with the best wishes to continue being a reference in Colombia,” said the boxer.

Indervalle manager, Ana Milena Orozco, accompanied the last day of competition, revalidating the support of the departmental government that strengthens the preparation and condition of the athletes with a great technical team of trainers and methodologists, as well as a biomedical team, with a nutritionist, physiotherapist, psychologist and physical trainer.
