SENDA commemorates Prevention Month in Tarapacá – CEI News

Under the motto “More Community, More Prevention” SENDA Tarapacá commemorated Prevention Month in the region. Discussions, cultural, artistic and recreational activities were part of the actions carried out in the different communes, through the SENDA Previene offices.
The regional director, Alejandra Zúñiga, explained that “as every year during June we reaffirm our commitment to the well-being of people, especially that of our children and adolescents, and through different actions we seek to reinforce and promote the responsibility and involvement of citizens in the construction of preventive cultures.
This is how in the commune of Pica, the SENDA Previene team carried out the photography contest “Prevention in free time” with the aim of promoting the good use of free time among the students of the San Andrés School. While in Alto Hospicio, the community office developed, together with the Municipal Library 305, the “Previcuentos” contest, which sought to strengthen literacy by creating stories that addressed preventive aspects of alcohol and other drug consumption. Along with this, a conversation was held in the commune around preventive issues with the “Progreso” Neighborhood Council.
For its part, the Huara team, together with the “Los Gigantes del Desierto” Social, Cultural and Sports Center, commemorated Prevention Day with a recreational, artistic and sports day for the whole family. The event, which had great participation from the community, included the participation of the mayor of Huara, José Bartolo; the delegate of the Province of Tamarugal, Camila Castillo; SENDA Tarapacá regional director, Alejandra Zúñiga; and councilor Lorena Baltazar.
In Colchane, the educational community participated in a prevention workshop developed by the SENDA Previene office, in which the students reflected on the importance of prevention in the commune. On the other hand, the professionals from Pozo Almonte held the “Carnival for Prevention” in the commune’s Plaza de Armas, an initiative that aimed to recover and strengthen community spaces through the participation of boys, girls and adolescents, who had to visit the different stands of the municipal programs that formed a circuit to make preventive clothing for the carnival.
Meanwhile in Camiña, the SENDA Previene team organized a preventive fair in which, in collaboration with municipal programs and public services, they delivered preventive recommendations to the inhabitants along with their respective programmatic offers present in the commune.
Finally, in Iquique, the SENDA community team developed, in coordination with the municipality, a discussion around the responsibility of citizens in prevention with the residents of Plaza Arica. The activity also included artistic presentations, family cinema and a preventive fair with the Somos Barrios Program and the institutions that participate in the SENDA Previene Iquique Communal Prevention Table.
Action Plan 2024-2030 of the National Drug Strategy
This year’s commemoration coincided with the recent national presentation of the 2024-2030 Action Plan of the National Drug Strategy, in which one of its central objectives is to enhance the comprehensive prevention system, highlighting community commitment in the construction of protective environments with special focus on children and adolescents. In this context, a citizen participation process is carried out through a consultation available at www,senda.gob.cl. “We invite everyone to answer this questionnaire that seeks to involve the community in prevention,” added the regional director of SENDA.
