A new attack apparently perpetrated by the self-proclaimed Central General Staff (EMC) of the FARC dissidents, was recorded this Saturday, June 29 in the municipality of El Tambo, Cauca. The incident occurred around noon when an explosive device was activated near the police substation located in the El Crucero sector.
The explosion, which targeted the police unit, left one officer injured, who is currently receiving medical assistance. After the explosion, harassment began against the police officers present at the scene, forcing the inhabitants of the area to seek refuge in their homes.
This attack adds to the wave of violence that has hit northern Cauca since March 17, when FARC dissidents violated the ceasefire declared by the government. Since then, negotiations between the criminal group and the administration of Gustavo Petro have entered into a deep crisis, with constant attacks against the infrastructure of the Public Force.
Authorities continue to work to repel the incursion of these armed groups and ensure the safety of citizens in the region.
