The new installment of the Jurassic World saga will hit theaters next year and with Scarlett Johansson as the favorite to star in the film
Over the last few months, we have learned that Universal has given the green light to a new installment of Jurassic World. Initially, the director chosen to lead the film was David Leitchknown for his work on films such as Bullet Train or Deadpool 2. However, a few days later, Leitch unexpectedly rejected the offer and the studio had to quickly find a replacement to begin production as soon as possible.
The American filmmaker spoke precisely about this. During a conversation on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Leitch explained in detail why he decided to step away from such an iconic franchise as Jurassic Park to focus on other projects.
“We have the privilege of choosing, and that’s overwhelming. And it’s true, and we’ve earned it, because of the movies we’ve made and the success they’ve had, and we hope that continues, but when you’re asked to be in those worlds, you want to take those conversations seriously, and we’re creative in finding ways to get into a lot of things. Ultimately, you have to do what’s best for the film at hand and do what’s best for you as an artist, and make sure that. that you’re making the same movie.”
According to Leitch, the creative ideas he had for the film did not completely fit with Universal’s plans. Although they could have reached a deal with more time, the studio needed a quick turnaround to begin production on a tight deadline.
Finally, Gareth Edwards, known for directing Rogue One and The Creator, was chosen to give life to the new installment of this successful franchise. Furthermore, one of the big signings for this film seems to be Scarlett Johansson, who after her time at Marvel Studios seeks to venture into a different cinematic world. The new Jurassic World movie is scheduled to be released on July 2, 2025.
