Chris Pine still can’t believe Warner canceled a $1 billion movie

Actor Chris Pine shared his surprise upon learning that Wonder Woman 3 was canceled

Chris Pine confessed his surprise upon learning that the third installment of Wonder Woman was cancelled. The star made a statement about the franchise in which he had participated playing spy Steve Trevor in a recent interview with Business Insider while his first film as director Poolman and said he is struggling to understand how Warner Bros. could pull the plug on a franchise that grossed the studio nearly $1 billion at the global box office.

“I’m surprised they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to turn elsewhere.”Pine said. “I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; she’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an amazing character; Patty is a very thoughtful director”.

Chris Pine played Steve Trevor alongside Gal Gadot in the two Wonder Woman installments within the DCEU under Patti Jenkins in 2017 and 2022. Jenkins was developing a third when DC Studios hired James Gunn and Peter Safran to create a new cinematographic part of DC comics, and Gal Gadot, like her colleagues Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, are no longer part of it.

In the interview, Pine said it wouldn’t make much sense for him to have returned to Wonder Woman 3 if it had been done since his character is “dead” and “gonzo”and I add: “It would be ridiculous to try to bring Steve, I’m back.” He also recalled that he had originally been skeptical about Steve Trevor’s role.

“I had no interest in playing a boyfriend and it sounded like a supporting role,” Pine said. “After talking to Patty, the way she described it was, ‘Forget the superhero, this is a romance, this is ‘Casablanca,’ that’s the movie I want to make.” I thought, oh, that’s cool because when have you seen a superhero movie that was ultimately a love story? “That had nothing to do with blowing shit up.”

Jenkins confirmed on the “Talking Pictures” podcast in March that his experience with Wonder Woman ended forever

Wonder Woman

“They are not interested in doing ‘Wonder Woman’ at the moment,” Jenkins said. “It is not an easy task, with what is happening in DC. James Gunn and Peter Safran have to follow their own hearts in their own plans. “I don’t know what they are planning to do or why, so I understand what a big job it is and they have to follow their heart and do what they have planned.”

Jenkins had been developing a third installment of Wonder Woman starring Gadot, however despite rumors that it would happen, Warner Bros. rejected Jenkins’ treatment for the sequel in 2022. The news came shortly after James Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins of DC Studios, which which led to speculation that Jenkins had rejected efforts to remodel Wonder Woman 3 to fit into their DC Universe.

“I never walked away”Jenkins shared in a post on Twitter at the time. “I was open to considering anything they asked of me. She understood that there was nothing she could do to move forward at this time. Obviously, DC is immersed in the changes they have to make, so I understand that these decisions are difficult at this time.

Gunn and Safran’s new DC universe will launch with superheroes like Superman, Batman and Supergirl, but Wonder Woman has not yet been announced for the new franchise. You can see the first official image of James Gunn’s Superman at this link.

About Poolman

Darren Barrenman lives a quiet life tending the pools at the Tahitian Tiki apartment block in Los Angeles, the city of fame. Barrenman is characterized by always wanting more. One day a scoop comes to him: they are stealing water from his city, so he decides to save it.

The film is directed and stars Chris Pine, accompanied by Danny Devito, Annette Bening, DeWanda Wise and Jennifer Jason.

Poolman which was recently presented in The Angels has not received very good reviews of which it has been said that “Not only is it the worst movie I saw during the fall festival season, but it would probably be one of the worst movies in any year it was released” or “It’s a complete failure on almost every level. It’s almost shocking how abysmal the film is. It’s not funny, it’s not smart, it’s not interesting. “Everyone involved should be deeply ashamed.”
