He ninth episode of X-Men 97 has ended with a surprising and tragic outcome which leaves everything open for the last episode of the season. But, in addition, it has shown the alternate mutant team costumes which were already seen in the promotional clip released by Marvel hours before the premiere.

The X-Men prepares for their final battle from this first season of X-Men 97 and, in doing so, they wear some very special outfits. Right in the middle of the chapter, the “new” superhero costumes are shown in some showcases. It is a retro clothing that combines the original comics style and the Uncanny X-Men.
This reference has been highly celebrated by mutant fanssince it represents a new nod that is very respectful of the source material on which the series is based. X-Men 97 is successfully adapting the stories from the vignettes and the use of these costumes is the culmination of the tributes.
In addition, the creator of the project, Beau DeMayo, shared through X (Twitter) the other great nod to these outfits of his characters. “Check out the unused pilot for “Pryde of the X-Men”“Some may even say that it is a task for X-Men 97,” he published alongside the pilot episode of the aforementioned series that was finally discarded.
This pilot episode of Prye of the X-Men originally aired in 1989 but never had a sequel. Three years later, Marvel restarted the project by creating X-Men, the 90s animated series, from which the current X-Men 97 is a continuation. But in that old discarded project, the protagonists wore those same suits that the company has now presented in the penultimate episode of the season.
With this new look, the superheroes must face both Bastion and his fearsome Prime Sentinels and Magneto, which has finally established its Asteroid M. The villain intends to unleash a war that could end with the destruction of the planet, so the mutants must prevent him. It will all conclude with the tenth and final episode of X-Men 97, which premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday May 15.
