Tornados: the continuation of the classic catastrophe film with Glen Powell presents a new trailer

From the producers of the Jurassic, Bourne and Indiana Jones series comes Tornados, a current episode of the 1996 box office hit, Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar-nominated writer-director of Minari, Tornados stars Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing, Normal People) and Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) as opposing forces. who come together to try to predict, and possibly control, the immense power of tornadoes.

Almost thirty years after the premiere of Twister (1996), its long-awaited sequel is becoming a reality. This time it will be a new film that will operate within the same universe as the nineties hit directed by Jan de Bont titled Tornadoeswhich will hit theaters in the middle of this year.

With the countdown started, Warner Bros. presented a second extended preview that expands details of the plot and its protagonists. In Tornadoes, Daisy Edgar-Jones (Fresh) plays Kate, a former storm chaser who, after facing a catastrophe during her formative years, decided to pursue her profession behind a desk. However, that comfort is interrupted when a friend of hers suggests getting back into her game to try a new and innovative tracking system. This also leads her to cross paths with Tyler Owens, a famous “tornado chaser” played by Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick).

As storm season becomes more intense and never-before-seen weather events unfold, Kate, Tyler and team will face one of nature’s most wonderful and destructive forces. Just as I had anticipated Glen Powell in previous interviews, Tornadoes It is not necessarily a sequel or a rebootbut it is a story of the same universe of Twisterbut with an independent premise set in the present day.

In addition to Edgar-Jones and Powellthe distribution of Tornadoes is completed with Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), Kiernan Shipka (The hidden world of Sabrina), Brandon Perea (Nope) and David Corenswet (Superman: Legacy).

The director in charge of bringing this story to fruition is Oscar Lee Isaac Chungknown to be behind Minari (film that in 2021 received six Oscar nominations including best director). In the early phases of the project, Chung worked side by side with Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) who was presumably going to be the filmmaker in charge of the film, until he stepped away from directing due to scheduling conflicts.

The libretto, for its part, was written by Mark L. Smithco-author of the script The Revenant (The Revenant2015) the tape Alejandro G. Iñárritu that got him the first Oscar Leonardo Dicaprio.

Tornadoes It will hit theaters in Latin America on July 18.
