What is I Am Legend about?
Directed by Francis Lawrence, released in 2007 and starring Will Smith, the film is set in a post-apocalyptic future in New York, where a man-made virus has devastated the world’s population, turning most humans into violent, unintelligent mutants known as “Darkseekers.” Dr. Robert Neville (played by Smith) is one of the few survivors left in the city, who works tirelessly to find a cure while fighting loneliness and despair.
The film addresses several themes, including survival, loneliness, hope, and scientific ethics. It explores Neville’s internal struggle to maintain his humanity in a desolate and hostile world, as well as his search for redemption for past actions that contributed to the disaster.
