Ian McKellen as Magneto in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men saga

The massive success of X-Men ’97 in Disney+ It showed that audiences are hungry to explore much more of the mutant universe. The first season, which not only broke records on the platform but also achieved an almost perfect score from audiences and critics, concluded last week. We know that a second installment is in post-production and that a third has been put into development, but Marvel Studios also starts to speed things up for a movie X Men in real action.

A report last year anticipated that, after the end of the double Hollywood strike, this project X Men it had become one of the first major writing commissions. Since then, Kevin Feige and different executives were in communication with various candidates to take charge of the script and now, finally, there is a first confirmed: Michael Lesslie.

The name of Leslie had already sounded strongly in reports from the insiders of the industry and now a renowned international portal has assured that the negotiations with the screenwriter were successful. Among the screenwriter’s best-known works are the adaptation of Assassin’s Creed (2015) and The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023). Although Leslie would already be on board the project, it may still be a while until the film X Men land in theaters. At the moment, this is in the early stages of development and his next step will be to find a like-minded director who can supervise the project with him and Feige.
