  • Beating characters like Pelé, the Brazilian Endrick debuts in the competition at 17 years old.
  • Dorival Júnior turns to its young prodigy in the 71st minute with the game still tied.

The incredible skill that Brazilian striker Endrick has shown at such a young age has drawn many comparisons to some of the best players his country has ever produced. Now, after debuting in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ at the age of 17, he is already playing in the competition at a younger age than arguably the greatest Brazilian player of all time, Pelé, who was 18 years old.

He appeared in his first competitive match for Brazil in the 71st minute when Dorival Junior looked towards his bench to look for alternatives. After appearing in four friendlies earlier this year, Monday night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California marked his first appearance in an official tournament.

It’s just the beginning of a great summer for Endrick, who after the tournament will cross the Atlantic Ocean to join Real Madrid. For now, he enters the Brazilian field, becoming the youngest player to wear the Canarinha Jersey in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ since 2011 when Lucas Moura did so at the age of 18.
