The charming story of Mei Lee and her eventful arrival to adolescence, finally, on the big screen, starting Thursday, May 2

If I, personally, had to choose any of the recent Pixar films, I wouldn’t hesitate twice. Is about Grida beautiful story of adolescence, friendship and mother-child relationships which, in addition, is a fantastic detector of closed-minded people, not to mention something a little more unpublishable.

And Pixar had the audacity (note the irony) to reflect female puberty in a film. And she taught feminine hygiene products. Something that offended numerous straight white men. And not only that: she also dared to talk about the RULE, that taboo word that terrifies many men, and that in Red we can see personified through a giant raccoon. And red. Isn’t it great?

Many of you, surely, have already seen and enjoyed this gem of animation. But what you haven’t done is see it in theaters. This already has a solution: Gridat last, comes to theaters For those who have not seen it, they can enjoy it as a title with these characteristics deserves, and for those who have, they can do it a second time, and in its natural state, cinema.

The rule is a giant red panda

Grid tells us the story of Mei Lee, a somewhat eccentric, although very self-confident, 13-year-old girl who struggles between being an obedient girl and, of course, the chaotic and disordered world of adolescence. Ming is her mother, overprotective like everyone else, and is never separated from her. And this is something that teenagers, of course, hate.

However, the changes of puberty begin to reach your body. And, where appropriate, they translate into the appearance of a giant red panda every time he gets more excited. Imagine the situation: a teenager who has to live being chased by the figure of a giant stuffed animal every time he gets excited. It’s not easy at all. The life of a teenager is not easy at all.

The 3 Pixar films that you couldn’t see in theaters: Disney releases them for the first time on the big screen

Grid It soon earned the approval of critics. They said everything about her, and everything was nice. For example, in the El Periódico newspaper they assured that Grid “it fearlessly addresses topics that connect with our present (…) And it does so with as much grace as an irreverent spirit (…) A delicious coming-of-age allegorical in which there is no place for clichés, which knows how to reinvent itself at every moment”; and Krisy Puchko in Mashable advised to forget “the impeccable and neat princesses of Disney’s past (…) Grid is full of fun, humor and heart, it is a comedy about growing up, stimulating and innovative, and for the whole family”.

Obviously, this film is not recommended for those men who are offended or outraged by the mere sight of feminine hygiene products. For them there are better movies, like, I don’t know, Fight club, The wolf of Wall Street either joker.

If you want to see again Grid for the second time, or you want to discover it in cinemas, it will arrive impetuously like a giant red raccoon to starting May 2, in theaters.
