While long anticipated, details about the film’s plot are being kept under wraps. Based on the iconic Mattel franchise, it will be directed by Travis Knightwho works from a script of Chris Butler. David Callaham, Aaron Nee, and Adam Nee worked on an earlier draft.

Centering on the battle between the heroic He-Man (aka Prince Adam of Eternia), the most powerful man in the universe, and the evil Skeletor, the Masters of the Universe franchise was introduced through a line of popular action figures in 1982. A year later, the animated series premiered He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, becoming one of the first syndicated children’s shows on television during its two seasons. Several other film and television adaptations followed, and today the franchise continues to encompass consumer touchpoints such as toys and video games.
