Avignon (France), Jun 28 (EFE/EPA).- Thousands of play posters are plastered across the centre of Avignon (south-eastern France) to announce what is coming tomorrow: the 78th edition of the festival that will transform the city into the world capital of drama for four weeks, with Spaniards as the guest of honour. Founded in 1947 by actor, director and writer Jean Vilar in a society seeking to leave behind the horrors of World War II through art and encounters, the Avignon Festival is one of the largest events dedicated to theatre in the world and this year has 35 plays in its own programme and some 1,600 shows that will take place in parallel throughout the city.
