David Galán Galindo’s new work has found streaming audiences who turned their backs on him in theaters
It is increasingly common for a film to fail in theaters but then have a much more positive reception when it reaches a streaming platform. We have the new example of this with the film that currently occupies number 1 on the list of the most viewed on Amazon Prime Video in Spain. This is ‘Methuselah’.
Hit in theaters
After several delays, the new feature film David Galan Galindor (‘Secret Origins’) hit Spanish cinemas last April 5, and the public turned their backs on it despite having Julian Lopez in the lead role. To give you a better idea of the failure, it barely made 108,000 euros in theaters and not even 16,000 spectators came to see it in theaters.
Something tells me that it has already added more viewers in just a few days available on Prime Video than during its entire run in theaters. In fact, It has been the number 1 movie on the Amazon platform since its arrival there. and we’ll see how much longer he can hold out at the top of the standings.
For my part, I was able to see ‘Methuselah’ a few months ago and I don’t think it deserved to go so unnoticed in theaters. It is true that it is not a great film, but it is an entertaining comedy with some pretty successful points -Personally, I especially enjoyed everything related to the peculiar bully that the protagonist has to deal with on several occasions. And one thing that I am very clear about is that it is better and funnier than ‘Eight Moroccan Surnames’, the film with which López really hit theaters recently.
