Gena Rowlands, the actress who played Allie as an adult in ‘The Notebook’, has Alzheimer’s, her son revealed on the film’s anniversary.

Gena Rowlands, a film legend

The legend of American cinema Gena Rowlandswhose entertainment career spans more than six decades, suffers from Alzheimer’s, his son, director Nick Cassavetes, announced Tuesday.

“For the last five years, she has had Alzheimer’s.”said Cassavetes. The 93-year-old actress is recognized for countless films.

Known for her collaborations with her deceased husband, actor and director John Cassavetesin 10 films, the American actress has been awarded in her more than six decades of career with four Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.

His last role in a feature film was in ‘Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks’ (2014) co-starring Cheyenne Jackson.
