The Rock slapping Krampus: sometimes you need very little to be happy
It may be summer for us now and we’re dying of the heat, but throughout Hollywood movies are now starting to be shot with titles like ‘Boyfriends for Christmas’, ‘Christmas in Lockdown’ or ‘A Mistletoe for Christmas’, which will fill the television (and Netflix) schedules in December. They will not be the only films with Christmas spirit, fortunately or unfortunately: The ‘Red One’ trailer is something we didn’t see coming.
Ho-Ho-Hosts like bread
Within the naive and playful, the trailer for ‘Red One’ promises a very entertaining film about a duo -formed by Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans- who has to save Santa Claus from a kidnapping. Second-rate special effects, exaggerated makeup, actors who know that this will not be their ‘Citizen Kane’… Everything was going well until we discovered that the film cost 250 million dollars.. Who knows, maybe I’ll be able to get them back, but it doesn’t look good.
To try, Johnson has teamed up with Jake Kasdan, with whom he already made the two modern ‘Jumanji’, in an action movie that could be endearing of not knowing the problems that have occurred on the filming set. And apparently, The Rock I was late every day making the team wait and sometimes it doesn’t even appear (increasing the budget along the way, of course).
In the end, if we don’t take these things into account, what we’re left with is a typical Christmas comedy (which MGM has already announced that it could be the start of a franchise, of course) in which JK Simmons is a hypermuscled Santa Claus, Dwayne Johnson hits Krampus in the face and Chris Evans asks for a Wonder Woman action figure . Now, in the middle of summer, we don’t know how to react, but November 15 We’ll have to see if it imbues us with the Christmas spirit. Ho Ho Ho.
