INE rejects canceling broadcast of National Time

The Complaints and Reports Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) refused to impose precautionary measures to cancel the transmission of the National Timewarning that it would be a disproportionate restriction on the freedom of expression.

The party requested that producers and concessionaires refrain from broadcasting the program due to the risk of its hosts carrying out possibly illegal demonstrations.

The Commission refused to impose precautionary measures against the General Directorate of Radio, Television and Cinematography and the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), as well as against the hosts Javier Ramírez Gómez and Leonora Milan, noting that there is a firm statement from the commission itself from the past February 28th.

In that agreement, the commission ordered those accused to ensure compliance with their functions, the principles of impartiality in relation to the competition between political parties, coalitions, candidates, pre-candidacies, candidacies and others linked to the electoral contest, in terms of what is provided for in article 134 of the Constitution.

The absolute prohibition of concessionaires from transmitting National Time was also declared inadmissible, as it would constitute a proportionate restriction on freedom of expression.
